A woman who was arrested on Christmas day this year was very much shocked at the actions of an angry mob that arrested her as she tried to escape by scaling the wall of her victim.
The young mother, unable to provide food for herself and her
children even on Christmas day, made her
way stealthily into her victims house in Lagos and succeeded in stealing a mini
bag of rice and a gallon of oil.
But luck eluded her as she tried to escape: someone raised
an alarm and immediately, an angry mob was mobilized. She was promptly arrested
and are to carry her loot as evidence.
But before the anger of the mob could lead them to cause her
any harm, the euphoria of Christmas prevailed. Each member of the mob
contributed any amount they could afford.
Quickly thousands of Naira was raised and handed over to the
leader of the mob.
The woman who had been wondering what was going on and begging tearfully for forgiveness became
even more scared thinking that perhaps the money was meant to buy something to
cause her harm.
Instead, the mob sent someone to the nearest supermarket and
they returned with a big bag of rice and oil for the woman.
As they handed over the gift to her, they told her to go and celebrate the Christmas with her family with their token.
A dumbfounded lady could not contain her joy and shed tears of joy thanking the mob she had thought was going to harm her.
