A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has warned against the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) on their stance on the new voters register.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party is in bed with the Electoral Commission(EC) which should by Law be an independent body.
He indicated that if the NPP is not careful about their stance, things could turn bloody during the December polls.
He said while speaking to TV3 in an interview that “They are in collaboration with the Electoral Commission in this country and if care is not taken, if they don’t manage their things well, that could lead to bloody situations”.
He noted that the timing for the exercise is bad and if the Electoral Commission could abort the idea, it will bring about peace in the country.

“looking at the time-frame within which they are to compile the register, test run the machines and all that, I don’t think 10 months will be enough for the Electoral Commission to do such a whole big thing.”
