Controversial Ghanaian-Romanian musician, Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, known by his stage name Wanlov the Kubolor has called on the board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) to rescind its decision of banning Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale from all aspects of the country’s foremost music award scheme, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The Ghanaian dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale
last year lost their legibility for VGMAs nominations, selections and
performances after the then two feuding musicians brawled at the awards’ 20th
anniversary in Accra.
The actions saw one of them pulling out a handgun.

explaining at a news conference the decision said the action of Stonebwoy and
Shatta Wale on the night “brought the name of the event into disrepute” hence
after “careful deliberations” and “extensive consultation” with stakeholders in
the music industry, they have resolved to ban indefinitely the two from
participating in all aspects of the Music Awards (VGMAs).
Speaking in an exclusive interview on TV3 monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Wanluv stated that it was unfair for the board to ban the two music giants as their actions on the night do not merit such punishment.

Meanwhile, iconic musician, Rex Omar has contrary to
Wanluv’s appeal urged Charter House to maintain the suspension as the two
musicians are not bigger than the music industry.

have opened nominations for the 2020 edition of the awards.
The announcement as captured by MyNewsGh.com was made through the organizers’ Social Media handles on 2nd January, 2020 and will close at January 31, 2020.
Some social media users have appealed to the organizers to lift the ban on the two suspended artists who have been impressive with the year in retrospect so that they can file their nominations.
Others have also advised the two musicians to ignore the
award scheme and hold a joint ‘ShattaStone’ concert on the awards night.
