Ghanaians hate high-achieving and famous Archbishop Duncan Williams

Musician and politician, Kwame Asare Obeng has bemoaned the tendency for Ghanaians to hate fellow Ghanaians who are high-achieving and famous for their exploits in various areas of endeavours especially Archbishop Nicolas Duncan Williams , arguing that Nigerians do a much better job acknowledging and celebrating deserving Nigerians than Ghanaians.

In a blunt post on Facebook sighted by MyNewsGh.com, A Plus exemplified his assertion with how Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams is not being hailed and celebrated enough by Ghanaians even though he is acknowledged and regarded globally.

“Whether you like Archbishop Duncan Williams or not, he
was invited to lead the inauguration Day Prayer Service ahead of the
inauguration ceremony for the 45th President of the United States, Donald J.
Trump. You were not even invited to the inauguration of your area assemblyman
last Thursday. Do something with your life and stop hating.

If this man were Nigerian, Ghanaians would have hailed him
and traveled all the way to his church in Nigeria. Evil people. They hate to
see a Ghanaian shine. They hate their own,” he lashed out.

A Plus then condemned the Ghanaians mentality to deny
persons of well-deserved titles such as “celebrity.”

“No Nigerian has said there is no celebrity in Ghana.
It is Ghanaian haters who preach that. Reggie Rockstone said it is called
“J hate” (Jesus hate. The hate by your own people) Lilwin is a
celebrity…” he insisted.

Recently government came under criticism for revoking the licenses of banks who failed to meet some rules and regulations governing (many were described as insolvent). Some described the action of the Bank of Ghana as a sign of the “pull him down” syndrome of Ghanaians.

Also there was,  and continues
to be some argument over who qualifies to be a celebrity in Ghana even though
people who get to be so described are well-known.
