LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Great Rivers United Way hosted a civil discourse workshop to make tough election discussions easier. The event took place at English Lutheran Church.
The overall lesson, focus on the fact that behind political differences, everyone is human.
“In order to work together, we have to believe that the other side is human,” Wisconsin State Better Angels Co-Coordinator Cameron Swallow said. “We don’t have to agree with them. This is not a movement to make everybody agree about everything. It’s a way to stay your own identity your own self your own principles. But be able to talk believing that there are human beings on the other side and that some common ground will be possible to find.”
The next skills training session of peaceful political discussion is at Western Technical College’s Lunda Center on Tuesday, March 10 from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
