Former Deputy Information Minister under the John Mahama led administration, Felix Ofosu Kwakye says the National Identification Authority(NIA) impunity in violating the President’s directive on mass gathering is with is on the orders of the President himself
The NIA is currently registering Ghanaians for their Ghana card in the Eastern Region although the government has banned public gathering to curtail the spread of the deadly virus
This has raised concerns about the fact that people risk contracting the virus and that there’s the need to end the registration process.
Reacting to this, Felix Ofosu Kwakye mentioned that the NIA has defied the President’s order because the NPP wants more people to be given the National Identification Card because it’s one of the two criteria for the voters register.
“The NIA is acting with the express approval of the President. The clear objective is to get Ghana cards for as many people in the Eastern Region as possible because it a requirements for registration as a voter. COVID 19,as far as the decision makers are concerned, can go hang”.
