Former President John Dramani Mahama has denied reports that he has named Eric Opoku, a former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister as his running mate for the 2020 Presidential election, describing the reports as fake news.
For him at this point of the coronavirus pandemic, Ghanaians
should rather be spreading news on how to stop the spread of the coronavirus
not spreading such fake news.
“Yet another fake news. Reports that I have settled on
and announced a running mate for the 2020 elections are false.
Let’s continue to take precaution and help #stopthespread of
COVID-19. Wash your hands as frequently as you can, especially after touching a
commonly used surface or object. And please wash your hands with soap and under
running water,” he wrote on Social Media.
News had been making rounds that former President Mahama had
named… as his running mate.
The issue of who partners the former President has become a
controversial one over claims by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) John
Mahama is at a loss as to who to choose.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has always hit back, insisting that the NPP should concentrate on its issues
