Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has hailed the government’s strategy to the distribution of food for the vulnerable and less privileged in society.
Government through the President in his fifth update to the country on the deadly Coronavirus said the government was going to distribute hot meals and dry food packages to deprived communities as part of interventions to ensure all Ghanaians are doing very well during this period.
Reacting to the move, former President, John Dramani Mahama hailed the current government for introducing such an innovate intervention.
He noted that government’s intention of doing that in conjunction with Faith-based Institution is a move he deems as prudent and worthy of commendation.
“The President’s announcement of the distribution of hot meals and dry food packages to deprived communities is welcome news. The president stated that this will be in collaboration with faith-based organisations. This collaboration is good news because if care is not taken, in both the distribution and procurement of the food, partisan and parochial interests will defeat the purpose of the whole gesture”. He said
The former President, however, suggested that it’s high time traditional rulers are made to also join in helping in the fight against the deadly virus.
“I believe that traditional rulers and our Assemblymen and women in the affected areas must also be involved in this enterprise.”
Ghana has recorded 287 positive cases as of today with the death too sitting at 5.
