A presidential staffer in the Office of the Vice President, Evron Rothschild Hughes, has indicated that even though Mr Paul Adom-Otchere, who has come under fire for his ‘unfair’ criticism of Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, could have been less animated while criticising Dr Agyemang-Rawlings, he was spot on in pointing out that Dr Agyemang-Rawlings was peddling untrue stories, adding that Mr Adom-Otchere is one of Ghana’s best journalist, whom he prays for.
Mr Adom-Otchere in his Good Evening Ghana show on Metro TV Thursday, had castigated Dr Agyemang-Rawlings, who is the Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, for peddling falsehood about the distribution of relief food on partisan bases. But his criticism has been seen by many as unfair and unwarranted.
For Mr Hughes, who is an Economic Adviser to the Vice President, the condemnation of the views of Mr Adom-Otchere about Dr Agyemang-Rawlings may be because those people do not just like Mr Adom-Otchere and not based on an objective assessment of his utterances.
“…when folks started making noise yesterday, I sneaked a peek at what was streaming on GEG hosted by Paul Adom-otchere. Roughly 3 to 5 minutes tops I think.
My verdict is: My brother Paul could have done with a little less animation (at least over the section I peeked at). The boisterous approach almost spoilt the central point: that Zanetor (others insist it’s Ezanetor) should not be repeating Ananse Stories as things that happened in reality.”
“…I also realise there are many people who simply dislike PAO for whatever reason I’m not sure. At least, I’ve not heard anyone say he’s snatched anyone’s girlfriend. I think he’s a fine journalist, intelligent, articulate, knowledgeable, and often on top of his subject-matter. He’s one of Ghana’s best. I’ll pray for him,” he wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile Mr Adom-Otchere has personally defended his criticism, insisting that he did no wrong in airing his views on Dr Agyemang-Rawlings’s pronouncements which he deemed as false.
