Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwaa has said the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the NPP would be his easiest election yet since he ventured into politics.
The 2nd term MP who has survived two primaries to retain his seat, said in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com that, his sole contender, Akwasi Konadu would be no match for him, should the elections be held, because he has beaten him and others twice in the past.
He accused Mr Akwasi Konadu and his mother, one Madam Ataa, of masterminding a feud between him and the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, in which he was reportedly beaten mercilessly by the latter; that matter ended up at the Ashanti regional police command.
Collins Owusu Amankwa has been the first and only MP for the Manhyia North Constituency, since it was carved out of the then Manhyia Constituency in 2012 and he intends to represent it once again should he win the party’s primary; “it will be a total endorsement by the delegates; only the few once who don’t attend meetings will vote against me”, he said.
“This going to be the easiest of all the primaries I have contested; it’s going to be the cheapest. The delegates would give me a total endorsement; accept the few that do not attend meetings and have been polluted by Akwasi Konadu who will not vote for me, but discerning ones who always attend meetings and have witnessed the transformation of the constituency will vote for me”, he said.
The NPP Presidential and Parliamentary Primary which was slated for this coming Saturday, April 25 has been indefinitely postponed following the ban on all social and public activities by the President, in the wake of the spread of the coronavirus in Ghana.
Party General Secretary, John Boadu has said a new date would be announced immediately the restrictions on social activities are relaxed.
