President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo says his focus as a President now is to save the lives of the people of Ghana and fight to contain the deadly COVID-19, a revelation which is not at par with opposition accusations. The opposition claims he is consolidating his hold on power using Covid 19.
But according to President Akufo-Addo, at this juncture, nothing matters to him apart from efforts to get the country to defeat the novel virus.
The President made this known through a post on his social media platforms.
He said “no country on earth has been spared the ravages of this virus and my single-minded goal is how to steer the country out of this crisis, protect our population from the virus and see the rebuilding of our economy. Nothing else matters for me”.
This President’s post comes at a time when the flagbearer of the biggest opposition political party in Ghana has addressed the country and have said the President has failed the country in the fight against COVID-19 because he would have done better.
The former President in his address noted that the President has handed the destiny of the citizens into their own hands and that the safety of citizens, health Practitioners inclusive are in the hands and discipline is the only way they will be saved.
To John Mahama, the unavailability of an elaborate plan outlining the strategies used by the government for the fight against the deadly virus which has passed containment stage and has reached community spread is an indication that the country has lost and the lives of citizens have been put at risk.
