Actress Lydia Forson says what the NDC and opposition leader John Mahama are doing in opposition is the same thing the NPP and Akufo-Addo did while in opposition and also still repeating Mahama’s action in power why complaining of same. This, the actress, says, makes the one complaining a hypocrite.
The National Democratic Congress at several of its Press Conferences has condemned various decisions taken by the governing NPP in a similar style like the NPP used to do while in opposition.
The NDC deems as wrong whatever the NPP does while in government. The opposition has condemned the government approach to the fight against COVID-19 and has said it could have managed it better if they were in power just like the NPP condemned the NDC when there was ebola outbreak some years ago.
Reacting to these case studies, Lydia Forson noted that the NPP and the NDC are the same specie and therefore there is the need for Ghanaian citizens to ensure that they are not swayed off from asking questions and seeking accountability from them.
To her, these politicians hold the mandates of the people, and therefore it’s imperative that they are accountable to the citizens.
She said in a tweet that “There’s nothing NDC is doing in opposition that NPP didn’t do, and NPP in power is doing a lot of what NDC also did in power. We the people, on the other hand, should remain constant in holding them accountable for their actions, regardless of our political affiliations”.
She noted that it’s funny how these political parties are petty with their politics but want to pin it on the other in order to look good in the sight of the people/
The filmmaker said the petty politics will come to an end only if both political parties decide to desist from such playful politics.
“When it comes to petty politics, nearly every political party is guilty of this, both in power and in opposition. I find it laughable when one tries to pin it on one party when they’re equally guilty. If we want it to stop, both lead parties should make a consensus to do so.”
