The Chiefs and Queen mothers of Kome and Shime in the Anloga District of the Volta Region have appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider building a sugar cane processing factory in the area
They indicated that the area has over 4,000 acres of sugar cane plantation that would provide the proposed factory all the raw materials its needs
The Chiefs also said the Kome/Shime traditional area cannot boast of a single Senior High School(SHS) which makes it extremely impossible for their wards to access secondary education
To this end, they pleaded with the Akufo-Addo government to build a model Senior High School for the benefit of the youth of the area to facilitate teaching and learning
Making reference to the President’s commitment to building standard hospitals in 88 districts, the Chiefs requested government to consider building one in the Anloga District.
They also asked government to consider building two modern markets in Kome and Shime in order to boost trade in the district.
President Akufo-Addo reminded the delegation that this year is an election year and he will be coming to them to renew his mandate for four more years.
He pleaded with them to deal favorably with his quest to have his mandate renewed.
“You know this year is an important year for me. I am going to come back to you to mark my examination papers and I am hoping that you are going to give me a favorable remark at the end of the day, so that we can continue the work that we are doing”, the President said.
