The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has stirred massive controversy over a cartoon image he posted on Twitter depicting how the Electoral Commission and President Akufo-Addo are stifling Ghanaians to death over the new voters’ register and likened it to the case of George Floyd in the USA.
This has courted divergent views as some people are criticizing him for being insensitive to a global racism issue which has currently made thousands of people demonstrating continuously in the USA over the killing of a black American.
Rex Omar, ‘abiba’ hitmaker was in the news as one of those chastising Sammy Gyamfi on Twitter but he has come out to deny profusely insisting
Responding to the Twitter issue in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central in Cape Coast monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Rex Omar was asked if he actually made a statement condemning Sammy Gyamfi as someone who is desperate for power,
He answered “I didn’t put that tweet out there. Some people have cloned my Twitter handle so they’ve done different Rex Omar versions and if you check you’ll realise the name being used is spelt wrongly.
“My Twitter account is Rex Omar official and I’m a proud member of NDC. I will never even publicly condemn my communication director, I will not do that. I mean why has Sammy Gyamfi killed a human being?
“He hasn’t killed anybody. Are you expecting that Sammy Gyamfi will be applauded by NPP for doing something and that is politics. So why would Rex Omar or any NDC person come out to publicly condemn Sammy Gyamfi, I would never do that.
“Even if he has done something wrong I will not come out to criticize him publicly, I will rather talk to him behind the scenes so it’s never my tweet”.
