Ghanaian highlife musician, Rex Omar insists that it will be an exercise in futility for him to conceive the idea of aspiring to become a Member of Parliament in future.
His stance stems from the fact that as ardent supporter of the NDC, it would be impossible to win the general elections as where he hails from and where he currently resides are both NPP strongholds.
‘Dangerous’ hit maker, Rex Omar made these revelations about his political ambition in an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based GBC Radio Central monitored by MyNewsGh.com
He said “No I don’t have any ambitions to go to parliament because our Constitution makes it a little bit strict unlike other countries that makes special representation for people like those in the creative arts or industry.
“But ours is more of constituencies. As for me I’m an Ashanti and I come from Asante Bekwai. In the Ashanti region most of the seats are for NPP so I won’t go and contest to waste my time to be a member of parliament because they won’t vote for me due to my NDC affiliation.
“Even in my family all of them are NPP members and I’m the only lone ranger because I’m an Ashanti. Apart from that where I stay in Accra too is an NPP stronghold so I won’t bother myself to contest until our Constitution changes.
“However, I believe strongly that when I go to parliament I can do a lot to help this country but the way our system is I won’t worry myself that I want to be a parliamentarian”.
