Award winning gospel artiste, Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong insists there’s nothing shameful about him declaring his political party affiliation and unflinching support for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Some celebrities are pitching camps and associating themselves to one party or the other in the lead up to the December 2020 general elections but others have also chosen to remain neutral to avoid being stigmatized.
Speaking with Amansan Krakye in an exclusive interview on GBC Radio Central in Cape Coast monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Great Ampong said he’s not a hypocrite like some artistes who shy away from declaring their political stance.
He remarked “If I’m a member of NPP does it mean I have committed a sacrilege? I’m a Ghanaian and I have the right choose what I want.
“I’m not a hypocrite like those musicians that when you ask them they claim they are neutral because they don’t want to jeopardize their career. Those who did that are the same people who go for contracts when a new government comes into power.
“I’m affiliated to the NPP and I’m proud of it because I have an ambition that one day I will contest as a member of parliament or even my children will do that. So far as I did a song for Nana Akufo-Addo I will be tagged as a member of NPP and so be it”.
