Senior Clergyman who serves as the Executive Director of the Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong has lashed out President Akufo-Addo for putting party politics above the church and religion.
The respected clergyman took the president to task for outlining a directive to churches but did not do same same for political parties who will also be meeting but without rallies.
“If I go to the market, I don’t fill forms and so the protocols must be comprehensive. We need a national comprehensive plan. Whatever you are telling churches should be the same as you tell the EC, political parties, and banks,” the man of God argued.
As part of the phased easing of restrictions of Covid 19, president Akufo-Addo announced churches and Mosques could meet but with some guidelines in place.
The Executive Director of the Alliance for Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong believes the President is being selective.
“You have listed political activities and so if you give churches and mosques guidelines, you should give same to political parties. Now that parties are meeting, some elderly people with underlining health conditions will also go for party meetings. When they go, will they also fill forms or not?” he said in an interview on Asempa FM Accra.
“Why don’t I leave my money outside the bank but go and stand behind the counter? Elderly people who go to the bank go through the normal procedure. So why do you tell me when I’m 60 or 70 years with some health conditions I should not go to Church but I am able to go to the bank?” He quizzed.
