The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended Parliamentary Primaries in the Gushiegu Constituency of the Northern Region, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
By this, the party will not hold any primaries for the remaining two parliamentary aspirants in the constituency until internal conusltations are properly done
National Organizer of the NPP Sammi Awukuwho confirmed this to MyNewsGh.com revealed that it is to pave way for the party to do broader consultation indicating that it could be held after the June 20 primaries.
“We have suspended the parliamentary primaries for Gushiegu Constituency to make way for broader consultation after the Deputy Minister and MP for the area Dr Ziblim Iddi pulled out of the race last week”, he revealed.
He hinted that the party is considering presenting a compromised candidate on its ticket for the 2020 polls but declined to mention specific names of those who may be considered.
Three persons including Dr. Ziblim Iddi, Mahama Osman and Hardy Adams were reported to have gone through the vetting process in March this year but disaster struck when the Minister pulled out in the eleventh hour over reasons yet to be made public.
According to him “I arrived at this painful decision after very broad consultation and deep introspection. I would be glad if you could kindly withdraw my application and delete my profile on the Notice of Poll and ballot paper for the election,”.
