The North Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) endorsed the recommendations of a 3-member disciplinary committee to disqualify Mr. Peter Wuni Baaga from the parliamentary primaries in the Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency of the North East Region.
MyNewsGh.com has intercepted details and recommendations of the committee which cuts short the political journey of the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area as well as the former Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
The committee found that Peter Wuni Baaga indeed went on the radio and made the comments contained in the audio and did not also deny the contents when he appeared before them.
That the comments made on radio by Peter Wuni Baaga who is a long standing member of the party it revealed has brought the name of the party into disrepute contrary to article 3(5) A1 of the party’s constitution which requires every member as a duty to promote and defend the good name of the Party.
Peter Wuni Baaga was said to have admitted there was misconduct on his part and stated that upon further reflection, there are some things he said on radio that he should not have said and therefore pleaded for a lesser sanction either than a sanction that would stop him from contesting the parliamentary primaries
But the committee as part of its recommendations directed that Peter Wuni Baaga’s candidature for the parliamentary primaries be withdrawn forthwith for breaching relevant provisions of the party constitution as stated in our findings
It added that the party may consider a refund of his filing fees to him and urged the regional party machinery to move into the constituency and embark on a unity campaign considering the seeming tension in the Nalerigu constituency especially between the camp of Peter Wuni Baaga and others had been in the open for a long time
