Tangoba Abayage, the elected parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Navrongo Central constituency has sounded a word of assurance to the National Democratic Congress(NDC) parliamentary candidate Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, vowing to win against him in his own house.
Having defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament(MP) for the area Joseph Kofi Adda in the Saturday primaries, the Upper East Regional Minister in a victory speech launched another wave of campaign, but this time for the main elections in December 2020.
“Let me send this message to Sampson Tangombu Chiragia [that] I’m coming to his house Yobania to win the votes there. That is where we are going to start. We will take it from there and we will take every electoral area and we will win massively for the New Patriotic Party come 7th December 2020,” she forcefully said.
While still serving as the first woman Regional Minister for the Upper East region, Ms. Tangoba Abayage will be the first woman to represent the Navrongo Central constituency in parliament if her resolve to win the upcoming election comes to pass.
She polled 307 votes in the fiercely contested parliamentary primaries, bringing to an end the re-election bid of Aviation Minister Kofi Adda who got 266 votes.
According to her, she will leverage the enormous experience, knowledge and political influence of Mr. Adda and seek his advice and guidance in the lead up to the December polls.
“Honorable Kofi Adda is my brother and that is one thing people don’t know. He is my senior brother. While giving my acceptance speech I’ll stand here and say that it is an internal fight. Maybe I was just a bit naughty and decided to challenge my senior brother and somehow I was able to put him down small. But I’m going to look for him because our people say that the child knows how to run but does not know how to hide. He is going to be the elder at home sitting and giving us advice. We will work together,” she added.
