Former President Jerry John Rawlings has revealed that serving as Head of State after his Coup D’état and even after he became President was tiresome because he had to be on the ground instead of just issuing instructions.
He noted that his exemplary, hands on style of leadership meant that he had to be on the ground to make sure things were done properly, thereby making his task as Head of State and later President tiring.
“It was a very tiring business because you were not just enjoying the luxury of just giving orders. You had to be on the ground and have the time to lead things,” he revealed in an excerpt of a yet-to-be aired interview with Kwaku Sakyi-Addo sighted by MyNewsGh.com
Former President Rawlings is expected to open up on happenings both good and bad and even ugly during his tenure as leader of the country.
Already in snippets of the interview, Rawlings has revealed how ex-President John Kufuor undermined his campaign on family planning by encouraging Ghanaians to give birth as they willed.
The interview will be on newly-established radio station, Asaase Radio tonight at 7pm.
