- Rajasthan political crisis is bound to reflect on ability, strength and authority of Congress high command
- Sachin Pilot is still claiming that he is with Congress while there are rumors of back channel talks with Rahul Gandhi
- Ashok Gehlot is last man standing man with complete loyalty to Gandhi family, if they choose to lose him
Jaipur: It’s been more than 20 days since Rajasthan is in political turmoil. The grand old party must have been in quandary but it looks tranquil as if an eye of a storm assuming that political whirlwinds from Rajasthan would not reach Delhi. But the political storm in Rajasthan may well prove the apocalypse for the Indian National Congress (INC) to be buried somewhere in Tughlaq lane.
The year 2020 has come with some ominous streak as the world is facing deluge in all quarters of life. “Rahu, one of the nine major astronomical bodies, is making a conjunction with mercury. Jupiter – the planet of wisdom is in a lowly position. Thus even the sane minds are not been able to think properly and those who got power by luck are using it as a double-edged sword, cutting down all and sundry including self,” Pandit Mukesh Bhardwaj, a Jaipur based astrologer said.
In the political crisis in Rajasthan, the shadow of unpropitious planets looks visible. Sachin Pilot running away with 18 MLAs including two ministers and claiming that he is still in congress party, Ashok Gehlot using uncharacteristic language using words like Nikamma-Nakara and Gaddar for his ex-deputy and silence of high command in resolving the issue at hand, all points out to a situation that has turned into laissez-faire. Moreover, there are talks of Rahul Gandhi trying to patch up with mutinous Sachin Pilot through back channels over some unfulfilled promises made in past.
But political pundits are not at loss in pointing out at the minatory nature of desert storm which is allowed to brew strong enough to jolt the roots and buttresses of the grand old party. “Fact of the matter is that Ashok Gehlot is last check dam of Congress party holding water of loyalty for Gandhi family. Promoting youth and giving them a chance is all right but it cannot be done at the gunpoint. This is a turning point of much significance for Congress than 1991 after the death of Rajiv Gandhi. Either control it or lose it,” a political pundit in the know of backchannel wheeling-dealing within congress party said. Traps of corporate were always there in past also but they are better a tool and worse masters, he added.
Party insiders say that it is easy to blame BJP for setbacks in various states but none have bothered to introspect the decisions which have led to strategic blunders for the Congress in various states such as Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and in North East. But Rajasthan may prove to the last nail in Gandhi hegemony in Indian politics because it is not that Ashok Gehlot is fighting for his survival in Rajasthan but it is an existential crisis of Congress High Command itself.
But planetary conditions affect all and Rahul Gandhi is no exception. Let’s not blame him but 2020.
