Dr Gideon Boako, Economic Advisor and spokesperson to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged aggrieved members of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Tano North Constituency of the Ahafo Region not to punish the NPP by voting for Akufo-Addo but refusing to vote for the parliamentary candidate of the area.
The made the plea recently after meeting with the aggrieved members and pleading with them to continue to support the party fully notwithstanding their grievances.
The displeased members had threatened to vote “skirt and blouse” after their preferred candidates for the parliamentary primaries were disqualified by the party allowing the current Member of Parliament(MP) Freda Prempeh to run unopposed in June this year.
But Dr Boako has succeeded in getting them to rescind their decision to punish the party by run refusing to support the bid of Ms Prempeh.
After meeting with them, he got them to pledge to support the party in the upcoming elections.
Ms Emelia Konadu, one of two contenders for the parliamentary primaries that was disqualified, pledged the support of the formerly disgruntled members to the party’s parliamentary and presidential candidates.
Dr Boako noted that the need to quickly build the party after internal contests was key to the unity and victory of the party in national elections.
