The Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dennis Kwakwa, has pledged that NPP youth will work tirelessly to ensure that the NPP wins all the 47 parliamentary seats in the region as well as increase Akufo-Addo’s votes drastically in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Mr Kwakwa explained that the youth were duty bound to campaign and get the NPP and Akufo-Addo retained so as “to protect the significant progress we have witnessed in all sectors of the economy, especially education, and to consolidate the gains made.”
The NPP Regional Executive made the pledge during the inauguration of the Ashanti Regional NPP Youth Wing Campaign Team held recently in Kumasi.
He therefore enjoined the youth to work together so as to make sure that flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, does not use his ‘deceptive’ promises to return to power since when he was President, he didn’t care about the populace
“At the time [in 2016] when incompetent Mahama was asking for another term in office, he told Ghanaians who were suffering from dumsor-dumsor, job losses, and other economic hardships that: ‘I have a dead goat syndrome’. In that same period, he cancelled trainee allowances and he said with arrogance and pride that ‘I will never restore trainee allowance even if it will cause me the 2016 elections’” he recalled.
The Campaign Team, on their part, pledged to work relentlessly to ensure that the NPP and President Akufo-Addo are retained in power.
The Ashanti Region is a major stronghold of the governing party. The NPP has won every single election in the region since 1992.
