A Deputy Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mame Yaa Aboagye is advocating a bipartisan approach in dealing with the Western Togoland rebels.
According to her, blaming one political party for the attacks in the Volta Region does not sit in a good place because all major political parties have following in the Volta Region.
Mame Yaa Aboagye spoke to MyNewsGh.com in an interview when she made this known.
She said “Let’s resolve this issue devoid of politics because both NPP and NDC has its supporters in the Volta Region since the outcome will not affect only one political party, hence should leave the matter to the security experts for advice as far as this issue is concerned”.
On the wee hours of Friday, September 27, some armed men reportedly attacked the Aveyime and Mepe Police Stations in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
They forcibly took over both stations simultaneously, overpowered the police officers on duty, broke into the armoury, and made away with all the weapons.
However, some of the members of the group were arrested and have since been charged and remanded expecting to reappear in court on October 13.
But at dawn today, some members of the group attacked the yard of the State Transport Company in the Volta Region capital, Ho where they burnt a bus leaving another slightly burnt.
