The Ghana Police Service has withdrawn the criminal charges against National Vice Chairman Alhaji Said Sinare for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Alhaji Said Sinare.
Prosecutor Seargent Thomas Safo told the Kaneshie court Thursday that there has been further development hence the need to withdraw the criminal case.
The Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye headed court accepted the request and discharged Alhaji Said Sinare.
Alhaji Sinare and one Tahiru Ahmed were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and possession of firearms without lawful authority.
The National Vice Chairman for the NDC was invited to by the Police after NDC Constituency Chairman for Ayawaso North, Ahmed Tahiru confessed that Alhaji had distributed guns to some selected youth to foment violence on December 7.
With this, it is not clear whether Alhaji Said Sinare is a free man or will be invited for new charges to be preferred against him but his lawyer Abraham Amaliba said after the hearing that his client was free.
“The charges that were brought to court were not well founded and that was why the prosecution withdrew it. I can tell you that Alhaji Sinare is now a free man,” he said.
