General Manager for Class Media Group and controversial musician, Kwame A Plus born Kwame Asare Obeng has told the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to sit up in the run-up to the 2020 polls.
According to him, claims by some of the party’s leading members that the election will be determined by the masses on the ground an not opinions shared by people on social media is a defeatist mentality and clearly shows that the NPP is aware it has failed.
To him, the only time social media especially didn’t play any role in elections in Ghana was the 2012 elections.
After that election, A Plus believes that social media has and will continue to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s elections and even across the world considering the fact that people will be provided with all the information they need to decide on who to vote for.
He said “The last time social media didn’t matter in an election was in 2012. In 2016, social media greatly influenced the election. If you don’t remember anything kroa, think about how kalypo alone went viral on social media. Anytime a party loses grip on social media, they make statements like “our members are not on social media, they are in the villages.” Which village? Go to Gomoa Bontroase right now, someone is broadcasting live on Facebook. Go to Gomoa Adewukwaa right now, someone is live on Instagram. Who said majority of the masses on the ground are not the same people on social media? Ghana is a youthful country and most of the youth are right here. If your presence is not felt on WhatsApp status, Facebook and Instagram and twitter, masa, you are not doing something right. Just accept that you have failed and get back to the drawing board. It’s not too late”.
It would be remembered that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko in a post on Facebook indicated that the election has been decided and that it is not to be decided by social and mass media but rather the masses on the ground.
