Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the results of Akufo-Addo graduates have put critics of the policy to shame.
According to him, the prediction of doom did not materialize as results of the students who passed out came out ok.
The Vice President whois currently speaking on Ghana’s economy and the gains made by the Akufo-Addo led administration said “Thankfully their predictions of doom for free SHS have not materialized”.
He indicated that the results have proven that the quality of education provided was not compromised like the NDC had always said in condemning the policy and its implementation.
He said, “The recent results of the first batch of free SHS graduates have shown that quality has not been compromised”.
Giving a breakdown of the passes obtained by the students the Vice President said “Indeed, the 2020 results of the WASSCE candidates is the only year in the past six (6) years that more than fifty percent (50%) of candidates who sat the examination obtained A1-C6 in all core subjects. In fact, the performance of the students in Mathematics and English Language were the highest, recording 65.71 and 57.34 percent, respectively. Social Studies and Integrated Science recorded 64.31 and 52.53 percent, respectively, the checks further indicated. The data also shows that about 60% of the 342,500 candidates who wrote the WASSCE, representing over 200,000, scored between A1 and C6 in their best six subjects, including English and Mathematics, which qualifies them for tertiary education”.
