Barely a fortnight to the December 7 general elections, the leadership of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is asking supporters and sympathizers to stay and monitor all the election processes with rapt attention until it flagbearer, John Mahama emerges the victor on that D-Day.
Consequently, supporters of the party have been admonished not to go home even after casting their ballots, rather, stay a distance from their polling stations across the country to ensure no rigging from the side of the officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).
“All NDC members are to stay after casting their ballot for John Mahama. … Don’t go home. You can set your fire at your polling station and cook. Stay and monitor every single process until John Mahama is declared winner of the polls”, Ashanti Regional NDC Legal team Chairman, Lawyer Evans Amankwa charged supporters.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show “Kroyimu Nsem” monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Lawyer Evans Amankwa told host, Papa Nyameke that, the party is leaving no stone unturned until their parliamentary candidates and Mr. John Mahama will carry the day.
“With free and transparent elections in this country, no way Akufo-Addo and NPP is going to win the election. And what we are asking the Electoral Commission to do is to eschew rigging for the NPP candidate Nana Akufo-Addo”, the Legal practitioner warned.
The NDC leading member also hinted the party has gathered intelligence suggesting the ruling NPP plans to bribe NDC agents who would be assigned to various polling stations on the Election Day to monitor the process.
“All what NDC is calling for is a fair process. John Mahama is winning at all cost and it is for us to be vigilant on the Election Day. We are going monitor the process and make sure everything goes in our favor”, Lawyer Evans Amankwa vowed.
