‘Security at Polling Stations is not the work of the National Security’ these were the exact words of t he Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. James Oppong-Bonuah.
According to him, no National Security operative has been deployed to any polling station and therefore they cannot be seen at the polling station in the name of inspecting the voting process.
The IGP says if any National Security Operatives comes to the polling station and cause any form of commotion or confusion at the polling station, there is the need for the National Security operative to be reported.
Talking about the Ayawaso West Wugon incident, the IGP said from the investigations done, it was realized that the the persons who brutalized people in the name of the national security did not belong to any security agency in the country.
“Security at the polling station is not the duty of the National Security. National Security has no right to be there,” he said emphatically.
