The Inspector General of Police(IGP) Mr. James Oppong-Bonuah has called the bluff of politicians who threaten Policemen and women to sack when there is a change in government.
According to him, people who make those threats are people who do not have an understanding of the working security services.
He indicated that no political appointee can influence the sacking of any security personnel when they work deligently and do not contravene the laws of their office and the land.
Describing their threats as “Brutum Fulmen” he said “I tell my colleagues that no politician can influence the sacking of any security personnel if you work diligently. They cannot interfere the work of the police”.
“I tell people that politicians who make such empty comments do not know how the security work in the country,” he said in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored.
He said even when a Security Personnel is sacked without any course, such a person can use the court to get reinstated so they should not be afraid of any politician who threatens them with the change of government.
His comment comes on the back of the National Communications Director for the NDC’s comment on dealing with some police who to him are in bed with the governing NPP when the NDC comes to power.
