Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications team, Stephen Atubiga has said that he will one day become a President.
According to him, being a President is not about being highly intellectual or knowledgeable but rather having the ideologies of the party you support at heart and getting the support of the party’s electoral college to make you their leader.
He said when one becomes a President, all he or she does is to do sod cutting whiles the actual work is done by appointees.
“Any stupid, lunatic (excuse my language) can be voted as president. Who is a president? You only go around and cut sod. Presidents don’t think. They have cabinet and Ministers. It is the people a president chooses to be his Ministers and DCEs that make him a good president not the president himself. There is no schooling for presidency.
When the party have confidence that a person has the party’s agenda at heart, the manifesto and everything will done for him. The party is the horse. When the party puts anybody on that horse, there are people who will join him. Even if he naked himself, people will still vote for him. That’s politics for you. So the party can make a president through helping to sell the candidate’s vision,” he stated.
He added “So I’m saying without fear that I will lead my party one day.”
Stephen Atubiga is optimistic that he will lead the NDC in 2024 because he is sure the NDC will elect him.
