Black Satellites midfielder, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, says Ghana’s U20s are in Mauritania to bring back the trophy to Ghana.
Ghana finished Group C in third place, but qualified to the quarterfinals as one of the best two third-placed teams to beat Cameroon 4-2 on penalties in Nouakchott on Thursday in a quarter-finals thriller.
The 16-year-old is a mainstay in the Black Satellites’ midfield and has contributed two goals in the first two group games.
The Steadfast attacking midfielder believes the capabilities of the team can win Ghana its fourth U20 AFCON trophy.
“We’re here to bring back the trophy, just send the trophy back to Ghana and bring back the love,” Fatawu told CAFOnline.
“We believe in ourselves, and I believe in the whole team that we’re taking the trophy to Ghana.”
The Black Satellites will face the winner of the game between Central African Republic and The Gambia, who are playing on Friday night.
