Ghanaians are peeved with regulatory bodies for allowing the Ghana Revenue Authority to force beverage companies to place their tax stamps on the same spot where consumers drink from.
According to conversations on social media started one Dr. Dan Apeemah which were monitored by MyNewsGh.com, most consumers unknowingly swallow pieces of the tax stamps while consuming these products.
To some Ghanaians, apart from it being inconveniencing, they are worried it could lead to some health complications as these pieces of papers accumulate in their systems.
The Ghana Standard Authority which is in charge of ensuring that products are of a quality standard which joined the conversation online indicated that there is nothing that can be done about the positioning of the tax stamp.
Weeks ago, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party Gabby Asare Otchere Darko could not fathom why the GRA will want to inconvenience consumers with the positioning of the tax stamp on the lid of these can beverages.
His tweet read “Do you feel as annoyed as I do anytime you pick up a can of drink to find the sticker right where your lips are meant to kiss the can to suck the drink out of it? Surely, there must be an alternative surface!”
